About StatWP
Making WordPress.org data useful for the people building WordPress products.
WordPress.org is home to tens of thousands of plugins and themes, and every one of them leaves behind useful signals: downloads, active installs, ratings, reviews, releases, rankings, search positions, and changes over time.
The data is there. The challenge is understanding what it means.
StatWP turns that public WordPress.org data into research and analytics for plugin and theme developers, product teams, agencies, and marketers. Whether you are researching what to build, tracking WordPress plugin rankings, monitoring competitors, or trying to understand why a product is growing, StatWP helps you see more than a snapshot.
It started with a simple question
What can we actually learn from WordPress.org?
If you build WordPress products, you have probably asked questions WordPress.org does not answer directly:
- Which plugins are actually growing?
- Where does my plugin rank for an important keyword?
- Who are my real competitors in WordPress.org search?
- Is this niche already too competitive?
- What are users asking for that existing products are not addressing?
- Did my product's ranking change after an update?
Answering those often means checking WordPress.org by hand, comparing listings, searching keywords, reading reviews, tracking competitors, and keeping your own spreadsheets.
We thought there should be a better way. So we started building StatWP.
WordPress.org is more than a directory
For developers, it is where products are published. For users, it is where products are discovered. For product teams, it is also a constantly changing source of market information.
A plugin moving up or down in rankings can say something about visibility. Changes in downloads, active installs, ratings, reviews, releases, and keyword positions reveal another part of the story. A single number rarely tells you much on its own. History does.
That is why StatWP records changes over time, turning individual WordPress.org snapshots into trends you can research. See our methodology for how estimates and ranks are built.
Built for the WordPress product lifecycle
StatWP is designed around the questions that show up across the life of a plugin or theme.
Before you build: research the opportunity. Explore niches, investigate competing plugins and themes, study active installs, identify established products, and look for gaps. Instead of only asking how many plugins exist, you can ask what the market actually looks like.
When you launch: understand your position. Track your listing, keyword rankings, downloads, installs, ratings, and other signals that show how the product is performing.
As you grow: track what changes. Monitor WordPress.org search rankings, ranking history, competitor movements, growth, reviews, and related signals over time. A ranking is not just a number. It is a number with a direction.
WordPress.org rankings are only part of the story
There is a difference between ranking on Google and ranking inside the WordPress ecosystem. Traditional SEO tools are built around Google search. When someone searches for a plugin on WordPress.org or in the WordPress admin, they are in a different environment with different products and signals.
That is why StatWP tracks WordPress.org keyword rankings specifically: plugin and theme catalog ranks, directory search positions, ranking history, competitor ranks, search visibility, downloads and active installs, and momentum. The goal is not only where something ranks today, but how and why that position changes.
Research your competitors, not just your own product
Your competitors are constantly changing. A new plugin can appear. An established product can gain visibility. A rival can start ranking for keywords you care about. A previously strong product can lose momentum.
StatWP lets you compare plugins and themes on the metrics that matter, including installs, ratings, downloads, rankings, keywords, and growth. Understanding your own numbers is only half the picture. The other half is knowing what is happening around you.
Built specifically for plugins and themes
We did not want another generic SEO dashboard. WordPress plugins and themes have their own ecosystem, discovery mechanisms, and public data. Growth often looks like: WordPress.org search, rankings, listing visibility, downloads, active installs, reviews, updates, then continued growth.
StatWP is built around that loop: plugin and theme analytics, WordPress.org rankings, competitor research, niche research, and product growth.
Meet the people behind StatWP

Yoyal Limbu
Founder
Yoyal started StatWP to make WordPress.org data more useful for people building products in the ecosystem. Instead of treating WordPress.org only as a directory, he saw a way to turn its public signals into market intelligence: products, competitors, rankings, and growth. He leads the direction of StatWP and the product we are building around that idea.

We are building the research layer for WordPress products
There are already strong tools for building WordPress products, for SEO, for analytics, and for customer feedback. Understanding the WordPress.org ecosystem itself often still means a lot of manual research. That is the gap we care about.
StatWP brings together publicly available information about plugins and themes and turns it into tools for market research, competitor research, WordPress.org rank tracking, plugin and theme analytics, keyword research, and product growth tracking.
We do not want to tell you what to build. We want to help you make a better-informed decision. StatWP can show how competitive a niche is, which products are ranking, how rankings and installs change, patterns in reviews, and how competitors compare. The final call stays yours. Our job is to make the information easier to find, understand, and use.
And we are still building
StatWP is evolving. We keep collecting more historical data, improving WordPress.org analytics, shipping new research tools, and finding better ways to read the plugin and theme ecosystem. Some of the best ideas will come from people using it.
If there is something you have always wanted to know about a plugin, theme, niche, competitor, or ranking that is hard to find today, we would love to hear from you.
